FPA was retained by The Trustees of Reservations, Massachusetts’s largest non-profit land conservancy, to manage the environmental permitting and strategy for the revitalization of a dilapidated pier into an iconic waterfront park in East Boston. The proposed Piers Park III, a public-private partnership between The Trustees and Massachusetts Port Authority, will build upon extensive community engagement to design an equitable, climate-resilient destination on the East Boston waterfront. The concept design imagines the park as a constructed natural expansion of the shoreline that will reintroduce ecological diversity and allow visitors to engage with the waterfront. FPA is responsible for securing the complex regulatory approvals required for this groundbreaking project, which is currently in the conceptual design phase.
