FPA was retained by Rowes Wharf Associates to develop a plan to upgrade the premier water transportation facility in Boston Harbor. The firm's plan has dramatically expanded available docking space for commercial vessels, brought existing floats into compliance with the ADA, and rehabilitated many older floats. FPA prepared a successful grant application to the Executive Office of Transportation and Construction (EOTC) to provide funding for the project. An innovative public/private partnership with Rowes Wharf Associates, the MBTA and EOTC has provided additional support for the MBTA commuter ferry service while maximizing commercial use of the Rowes Wharf facilities. FPA prepared all required environmental permits and documentation to support this project, and provided expert advice with regard to both environmental and universal design concerns.
