Fort Point Associates was retained by the Boston Redevelopment Authority/EDIC to prepare a Master Plan for the 200-acre Marine Industrial Park in South Boston. This publicly owned waterfront parcel is essential to Boston's marine economy, hosting a major import terminal, the largest commercial dry dock north of Baltimore, a concentration of seafood processing firms, and intermodal cargo facilities. FPA evaluated historic and current uses within the South Boston Designated Port Area (DPA), assessed short- and long-term potential uses for the area, addressed the consistency of the proposed land uses in terms of regulatory criteria for DPA uses, and made recommendations to the Boston Redevelopment Authority concerning future land uses within the Park. Additionally, FPA supported public outreach efforts with various interest groups, producing informational materials for distribution, presenting a proposed DPA Master Plan, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and obtaining an innovative Chapter 91 Master License.
