The MDC (now DCR) Beaches Project was a $30 million effort to upgrade Boston-area beaches based on improvements to Boston Harbor water quality. FPA provided environmental documentation and permitting services for the South Boston beaches section from Castle Island to Carson Beach and Mother's Rest. Successful restoration of these landmarks required the installation of new boardwalks, access points, and pedestrian infrastructure; and replacement of sand, seawalls, public piers, bathhouses, and other park amenities. FPA prepared environmental documentation, wetland and waterways resource area delineation, impact analysis and mitigation programming, and the permit acquisition scheduling to support construction.
