USPS South Boston Annex Redevelopment

FPA was selected to provide strategic planning and environmental analysis for the redevelopment of the sixteen-acre South Boston Postal Annex site. Upon its relocation, the USPS will leave behind the largest redevelopment site in downtown Boston. The site is strategically located adjacent to the Financial District, the South Station Transportation Center, and the Interstate-93/90 interchange.

FPA worked with USPS real estate advisors to create a development program and master plan that is responsive to community, environmental, and regulatory issues. The proposed program includes 4.0 million square feet of development, including a hotel, several office buildings, residential housing, and structured parking. FPA spearheaded the effort to revise the City's zoning and planning framework to facilitate the project approvals. As part of the project, South Station's rail terminal will be expanded with the addition of several new tracks.
